Important — Please read carefully
Teacherly is a sourcing platform only. We connect teachers, schools, and parents but we do not employ, supervise, or guarantee any party. All users must conduct their own independent verification (background checks, reference calls, document validation, in-person meetings) before engaging anyone found through the platform.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Teacherly in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.
2. Nature of the Platform
Teacherly is an online marketplace that helps schools and parents discover teachers and tutors in Nigeria and the diaspora. We are not an employment agency, recruiter, school, or tutoring service. We do not:
- Employ teachers listed on the platform
- Supervise lessons or interactions between users
- Guarantee the accuracy of profiles, qualifications, or claims made by any user
- Act as a party to any agreement made between users
3. Independent Verification (Mandatory)
Even where Teacherly displays a "Verified" badge or shows uploaded credentials, all parties are required to independently verify each other before engaging. This includes, at minimum:
- Confirming identity documents (NIN, passport, valid ID)
- Verifying TRCN registration directly with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria
- Confirming academic certificates with issuing institutions
- Calling references and previous employers
- Conducting interviews and, where appropriate, in-person meetings in safe public spaces
- Schools and parents must perform their own background checks before allowing any teacher access to children
Our internal verification is a convenience, not a substitute for your own due diligence.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and use the platform lawfully. You will not impersonate others, post false credentials, harass other users, or use the platform for any illegal purpose.
5. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
Teacherly will not be held accountable, liable, or responsible for any interactions, agreements, transactions, disputes, injuries, losses, or damages arising between users of the platform. This includes but is not limited to:
- The conduct, performance, or behaviour of any teacher, school, parent, or student
- The accuracy of profiles, qualifications, certificates, or reviews
- Payments, salaries, fees, or refunds exchanged outside or inside the platform
- Cancellations, no-shows, or quality of lessons delivered
- Any harm, injury, or loss occurring during in-person or online sessions
The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. You use Teacherly at your own risk.
6. Child Safety
Parents and schools are solely responsible for the safety and supervision of children. Never leave a child unsupervised with a teacher whose identity, credentials, and references you have not personally verified.
7. Privacy
Your use of Teacherly is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe is fraudulent, abusive, or unsafe.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
